TREFLYS COMMUNITY COUNCIL

MINUTES OF MEETING HELD ON 05 SEPTEMBER 2023

A meeting of Treflys Community Council was held on 05 September 2023 at Beulah Reading Room.

Members present: Messrs; Hugh James, Chris Fairhurst, Roland Wear, Ian Powell and Estyn James and Mrs Freda James. Also CC. Peter James.

Apologies; Messrs; Tom Evans and Allan Taylor and CC. Bryan Davies.

1 DECLARATIONS OF PERSONAL INTEREST

There were no declarations of personal interest recorded.

2 MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING

Minutes of previous meeting held on 23 May 2023 which had been displayed on the website and notice boards and circulated to members were confirmed as an accurate record by Mr Chris Fairhurst seconded by Mr Ian Powell and signed by the Chairman.

3 MATTERS ARISING

a) Abandoned catering facility at lay-by on the A483

A reply received from the TRA dated 29 June 2023 stated the owner had confirmed removal of all buildings and materials within one month. Unfortunately,. this has not been carried out.

Agreed to reiterate the issue with TRA.

b) Sewage system

CC. Peter James stated he had recently been in contact with Jenny Grubb (River Quality Liaison Officer) and hopefully work will commence shortly.

c) Defibrillator

Mr Ian Powell stated as a site visit with Mr Mike Beer has taken place. Following re-siting this will be registered with Wales Ambulance Service to carry out regular inspections.

6 Correspondence

a) One Voice Wales Conference and AGM 30 September 2023. Noted

b) Request for sponsorship from Beulah and District Show.

Agreed to forward a donation of £30.00

c) Clwb Dyffryn Irfon

In September 2022 the Community Council forwarded a donation of £500.00 to enable a financially viable after club. A letter had been received from the Treasurer stating this facility has now closed. The Committee requested the decision of the Community Council to either donate this donation to the Friends of the School or prefer to be reimbursed.

Agreed to request a refund, but should the facility be reinstated in the future the Community Council would willing contribute.

d) Parking on the footway west of entrance to Bridgend Cottage

When vehicles park on the public footpath exiting and entering this property is hazardous, it restricts visibility. The footpath is used everyday by pedestrians to gain access to the Village amenities. On occasions they have to step onto the live carriageway.

CC. Peter James stated he had contacted Barry Elias (Powys Highway Officer). New bollards have been installed. As the A483 is a Trunk Road issue, agreed a letter of concern be forwarded.

Tuesday 12 December 2023 Beulah Reading Room 7.30pm.

No further business was transacted. The Chairman thanked everyone for attendance and declared the meeting closed at 9.00pm.
